Love is Strange - the Everly Brothers
I guess I'm being a little controversial here, playing this version of the classic Mickey and Sylvia song rather than the original hit, as featured in the 1987 film "Dirty Dancing". But it's worth it just to hear the great guitar attack by both the brothers on this. And the plaintive call of lonely Don as he sings
"Baby
oh sweet Baby
my sweet baby
please come home"
followed up by their dreamy harmonies and some great piano by Billy Preston.
Incidentally, this was the only version to chart in the UK, reaching no 11 in 1965, nine years after Mickey and Sylvia's brilliant original in 1956. Bo Diddley, who wrote it, would have been proud of both versions.
