B Flat Blues - the Righteous Brothers
When "You've lost that Lovin' Feeling" hit number one all around the world from nowhere in 1965, no-one could believe that the Righteous Brothers weren't black. Well, they should have listened to this track from their "Right Now" album from two years earlier. If this isn't the best r & b ever recorded, if not by a white man, then by two white men, I'm a Dutchman. Which of course I'm not.
The giveaway is that the lyrics get a bit silly at the end:
"yeah I'm gonna knock myself out (yeah)
wrap myself up in adhesive tape (yeah)
and drop myself in the nearest pool of water
(it's got to be-ee)
yeah yeah it's got to be that way now yeah yeah."
but it sure makes you laugh.
